Ever since I moved, Ive wanted to get a part-time job. Well, let me tell you - no one wants to hire someone in their 60s. So, for 3 years, Ive patiently waited and applied. Two weeks ago, I updated my resume and applied at Walmart. Wednesday morning, I received a call from our local Walmart (a mile away) asking me to come in for an interview. During the interview, I was told the process for hiring takes about 4 weeks. Takes 3 weeks to review the initial interview report, then you get scheduled for a second interview, then you go for background drug test, and then they decide. After my interview, I was asked to wait here a minute. A woman comes in and gives me the 2nd interview...she said that the store manager requested I get put on the fast track for hiring. They called my references and called me today and told me to come in tomorrow to sign my job offer. WOW!!! Ill be a sales associate in the arts & crafts department. After training, I will be the assistant manager for arts & crafts, greeting cards and celebration. Im thrilled... Worked behind a desk for 40 years...had 8 years off...and now doing something that looks to be a fun experience. Not a cashier...dont think I could do that or 4-6 hours a day. So Im officially a Wal-martian HAHAHAHAHA. Toms a little nervous...hell be home alone for part of the day, LOL.
