Ever so often, either in conversation or passing in the street, - TopicsExpress

Ever so often, either in conversation or passing in the street, someone asks me a photographic related question. If one person asks a question I believe that there are always a hundred more who also need to know. So I have finally decided to post my response to some of the questions asked, and I hope that I am not opening any flood gates here. Q1. Do you have any cameras that you are not using that you would like to sell? [a] Yes I have cameras I do not use but, no, I am not selling. I just never thought of selling. One of my grandsons have now developed an interest in photography and is commandeering all my unused cameras and photo equipment. I could have a hard time even holding on to the EOS-7D. [b] Personally I would not suggest that anyone buy a used camera locally, unless and before it has been factory serviced or refurbished. Cameras are precision equipment, that require a specific level of care and attention. I would not wish to buy a camera locally and the following week it stop working. I do not relish any argument with the seller, nor have time to chase after them with a baseball bat to get my money back. [c] There are better used camera buying options like those on eBay, especially when worked in concert with one of the many known reputable camera repair shop in the US. Be sure to use the PayPal service, just in case. [d] The best option could be to buy a factory refurbished camera from B@H Photo Video. bhphotovideo/ Some people may feel like taking a chance on a used camera and lens from B&H, but I believe the factory refurbished camera, with a manufacturers warranty, is best. So it is still easy to become that big time photographer and save a bundle of money at the same time.
