Ever think about wanting to give to a worthwhile charity, but - TopicsExpress

Ever think about wanting to give to a worthwhile charity, but thought you dont have enough money to do so? I can relate. When I first started my business career, I lived off oatmeal and Top Ramen. I drove a crappy 12-year old car with over 112,000 miles on it. Charitable Giving was the last thing on my mind at that time. Geez, I barely had enough money to feed myself, let alone an orphan in Mexico. But Ive learned that charitable giving doesnt need to be millions (or even thousands) of dollars. It can start with something small... small to us Americans, but significant to a starving kid. Ive had many people ask me about the charity I sit on the Board of Advisors for (Corazon de Vida). A few U.S. dollars goes a LONG way for these orphans in Mexico. For example, $2 a day ($62.50/month) can provide food and basic necessities for a child, taking them off the streets of Tijuana, and placing them in a safe environment that one of the 13 orphanages that Corazon de Vida supports. I MCd an event for Corazon de Vida a few months ago, and when I asked the attendees for donations, yes, we had some people donate several thousands of dollars, but I also asked for $20 donations. Now, you might say that $20 isnt much of a contribution, but I beg to differ. 20 bucks will feed a child for a week and a half. You might even say that a week and a half of food isnt much of a contribution, but if you were the one that wouldnt have any food for a week and a half if it werent for that $20 donation, youd look at that 20 bucks differently. As I think about all the things in my life to be grateful for, I am reminded that many people have so little, and when I think about a baby that was born in an orphanage... born to a 13-year old girl that had horrible things happen to her... even a small $20 donation makes a difference. If you feel inclined to do so (and ONLY if you really want to), you can make a difference by making a donation to this very worthy cause. Just click on the link below.
