Ever wonder why its called pool table or pool hall? The name pool is so closely associated with Billiards that we use it without even thinking twice. So where did the name come from? It turns out that the name pool has nothing to do with Billiards. Way back in the 1800s, men used to pool their money together for bets on horse races. Back then, a pool room was a place where guys would meet to bet on races. To help customers pass the time while they waited for their race to start, the owners of these pool halls installed billiard tables. Since then the name pool and pool hall have become names we associate with Billiards. The Fall 2014 Session starts this week!
