Ever wondered how monkeys are trained to behave during experiments? Most primates are subjected to years of experimentation. In order to force them to sit still during procedures (often for hours a day), they are trained to tolerate torture-like restraining devices. The training involves being encouraged out of their tiny cages using a metal neck collar attached to a pole so that the technician can force, pull or even lift them by their necks. Theyre then pushed into a restraint chair. Here, their feet, wrists, torsos and necks are clamped or tied into place. This is repeated day in, day out until the monkeys spirit is broken. Pro-animal researchers will often make misleading footage public of when their subjects are obedient…when they have given up fighting the human with the metal collar and pole training them. But undercover footage shows again and again the true horror of these devices, methods and approaches.
