Ever wondered what those numbers on your plastic bottles, trays - TopicsExpress

Ever wondered what those numbers on your plastic bottles, trays and household items mean? Bad news if you see the number 3, 6, 7 and better stay away from 1 as well. There is mounting evidence that these items release a dangerous amount of Bisphenol A (BPA) into food or to skin upon contact with even a small amount of heat. Met a french scientist who told me all the horrific recent findings and how they are now linked to all kinds of health problems, most notably allergy, food intolerance, diabetes and infertility. Canada was the first country to ban BPA as toxic in 2011. France will follow in 2015 but not the rest of the world. So why do we keep using BPA? Because it makes our plastic durable, from the lining to the cans and bottles, to your tupperware. We have started using BPA on an industrial scale only since 1984, and now scientists find that effect of BPA can last up to four generations. Industrial chemists will eventually replace BPA with some other less toxic but equally convenient chemical substance whose long term effect is yet to be known.
