Ever wondered why hotels drop the ball on customers asking for a QUIET room? This is interesting since we encounter this issue on an ongoing basis. Apparently the front desk DOES have a list of rooms that are right next to ice machines, elevators and vending machines. But rooms under roof ventilation systems and next to housekeeping supply rooms (with quite a bit of traffic) tend to go unmarked. So ,whether you are extremely noise sensitive or just a light sleeper next time you book a room this is the complete list of what to ask. Are there ant renovations going on in the hotel ? we had an incident when they were remodeling the rooms next door at midnight.. Is my room: Near elevators Near vending machines Near gym, executive lounges (some are open 24 h a day) Under or over roof ventilation, disco, night clubs, restaurants, hotel kitchen, wedding hall, conference rooms Facing busy streets, freeways, pools, atriums with parties( Had that one happen in Prague after 31 hours of flight when they had a new years ball till 4am) What they call associates rooms(electrical, room service ,housekeeping) Yes,thats a mighty long list I know:(
