In mid sixties, after war with Pakistan, USA stopped food grain aid under PL 480 and of course brought seventh fleet in Bay of Bengal again in 71 (Should we get too close with it in defence matters is an issue that needs separate discussion). There was drought and famine in India. Last time people died on street was in 1966-67. Today we should recall that when Shastri ji asked countrymen and women not to eat grains on Monday evening, the country followed. Young people should ask their parents about that speech of Shastri ji on AIR. How come that text books dont teach the contribution of Shastri ji in Operation Flood which made India successful in MiIlk? Gandhi jis legacy should thrive, so should Shastrijis legacy too. I hope we will also salute both the leaders and then take to #swachhbharat abhiyan in true spirit of sustaining it, not abandoning after a ritual today. LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI JI KO NAMAN
