Every July 4 over the past 22 years, reading Song of Myself with others is deeply inspirational. Each year the poem changes, or we change, or all changes, and Whitman is new, his observations are poignant in unexpected ways, his language and his empathy, his daring to say the forbidden: all beings are equal, none is greater or lesser than another anywhere on this universe. That said, the Bagels and Walt reading yesterday was extraordinary. I thank each beloved friend and friend to be for connecting us to each other and each to the world around us and to Whitmans voice, his wisdom.
