Every PAW Has Its Day...... From time-to-time, we like to share stories from our staff or volunteers on a particular animal that they had a bond with over time. Catherine, our shelter manager, wanted to share a story about her and Beatrice. Beatrice was 10 years old when she was surrendered. This old lady stole my heart the minute I laid eyes on her! She was surrendered to the Bay Area Humane Society because her owners were moving. Beatrice was adopted, but returned three weeks later because her owners claimed they didn’t have enough time for her. I couldn’t understand how someone who adopted a perfect, low maintenance senior dog could say they didn’t have time for her! Bea spent a whole month here at BAHS, with her last week being at the PetSmart Adoption Center; that last week was when we spent the most time together. She loved being out in the playroom, mostly laying around and waiting for the next person to come in and cuddle with her. She was so quiet in her kennel, and just watched out the door, waiting for her new family to come in. On her “gotcha day,” I had the pleasure of meeting the people who would be with her for the rest of her life – a mom and her college aged son. The son came in looking to adopt a companion for himself and his roommates at college. He was so excited to be living in a house the next school year, and was more than ready for Beatrice to be a part of his life. I had the honors of doing Beatrice’s adoption, and that experience will always remind me that there truly is a home for every animal out there! On September 1, we kicked-off our first ever crowdfunding campaign, Every Paw Has Its Day. The Bay Area Humane Society helps every animal who finds its way through our doors, regardless of the condition it is in or the medical care it may need. We at BAHS are very proud of our organization, of what we do, and the animal lives we care for every day. We would like to personally invite you to come to the shelter for a behind-the-scenes tour so that you can see the facility and get a feel for what we do. We simply request you set up an appointment to make sure that a member of the management team is available to provide a tour. We look forward to meeting you and for the opportunity to personally thank you for your support. Yes, you make a big difference in the lives of homeless animals. A BIG difference. Please consider donating to help our campaign. You can donate online at: bayareahumanesociety/donate/ or mail in your donation to 1830 Radisson St. Green Bay, WI 54302
