Every night I pack my husbands lunch, but dont pack the kids until morning. He usually gets dinner leftovers, so I throw some in a container when were cleaning up, and the kids get sandwiches so Ive been packing theirs in the morning since I have the time. Last night, I switched things up and packed a sandwich for Paul, and since I had everything out, I decided to knock out the kids sandwiches at the same time so Id be ahead of the game in the morning. Its important that you know I NEVER DO THIS. This morning, as the bus was getting ready to pull up ANY minute, the kids went to the fridge to grab their lunches. THERE WERE NO LUNCHES!!! Picture Crazy Liz spotting them still sitting on the counter, untouched from yesterday afternoon. DID I MENTION THE BUS WAS COMING?! Picture Crazy Liz unzipping three lunches like her life depended on it, screaming Reag, grab the juice boxes! Reese, grab the napkins! Noah, grab the pretzels! (Also picture my Hopkins rep calling me AT THIS EXACT MOMENT to discuss my medicine delivery, AND the other 7 children I watched this morning getting their shoes and bookbags on). And picture Crazy Liz opening the fridge to frantically grab the baby carrots and seeing those glorious pre-made sandwiches sitting on the shelf. Sometimes its big, smack-you-in-the-face things. Sometimes its little things like having pre-made sandwiches when youre in a rush and youve never done it that way before, but Im telling you, it felt like God was saying, Its ok. Ive always got this. I hope your day finds you with a little miracle too, my friends.
