Every now and again, one should pause and take inventory of important things and people in their life. I grew up as a teen in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago exactly at the same time (and in the same places) House music was created. The story of my teen years pretty much was escaping the hood, being launched into a new world of opportunity (thanks, Harvard St. George) and living life through House Music (some of you know what that means more than others). Frankie Knuckles and a few other pioneers (anyone remember WBMX? Of course you do, Chi) had as big of an impact on our lives as our role models. Frankie died yesterday, apparently from complications of diabetes. Ive had conversations about him with people all over the world. RIP and congrats on an impactful life well lived.
