Every now and then, you get to know something heartwarming, which renews your faith in people. That was how I felt when I received this link from my friend Nitin Paranjape, of Abhivyakti, Nasik. Nitin and his dedicated group run a community video initiative where they train community members to learn video and use it to communicate their issues to the public. He says that this approach has galvanised people in the villages where he and his team works. Young people have come together, formed groups, documented their struggles and pressurised the government to take action. in this video, the people of Phule Nagar in Nashik, document how they solved their water crisis. Nitins team helped out with editing and finishing the video. This is one more way of building up the pressure. But at the end of the day, responsiveness can only come with empowering local governments with adequate funds and flexibility, to deal with local problems. https://youtube/watch?v=ce9llY_u-n4
