Every now and then you meet someone extraordinary. Selfless, - TopicsExpress

Every now and then you meet someone extraordinary. Selfless, strong, athletic, witty, caring, refreshingly authentic, dedicated, (way) funny... I could go on. I will never forget the day that Brad Macfarlane and I realized that we were not willing to be miserable enough to ride in the A-group but wanted to challenge ourselves while still holding a conversation (and by conversation I mean him telling me funny stories to take my mind off the pain and me trying to NOT laugh so hard as to fall off my bike.) Hahaha... That is the day that we established the bravo squadron. He also remains my favorite person to draft off of! ;) Brad is, without a doubt, one of the most incredible people I know. I am so excited to introduce you to the newest member of our Life time run staff!!! Brad will be coaching our Thursday morning Dawn Patrol. His workouts have been some of my favorite; difficult AND fun (it can happen...) One of my best friends, Brad Macfarlane. Now, in his own words... I grew up in the suburbs of Wichita KS and Seattle WA. I was always a pretty good athlete and played just about every popular sport and even some less popular, ie. Judo, BMX, gymnastics and ballet (Ok, ballet is not a sport, but thats what my mom told me to trick me into doing it.) In high school, I played on the US National rugby team and then went on to play college rugby at BYU. After my college career ended, I started coaching rugby. I found a passion for coaching. I love the outdoors, anything sport and would rather play a sport instead of having a Fantasy team about the sport. I have run 5ks, half marathons, done bike races, climbed mountains and navigated military obstacle courses. Today, I work as a law enforcement trainer in the disciplines of physical training, combatives and tactics. I spend a lot of time advocating for healthier and fitter, law enforcement lifestyles. I am a Level 1 Crossfit trainer and a Speed and Conditioning coach. I have been a member at Lifetime for about 6 years. Several years ago, I went on a cycling trip to St. George with some of the Lifetime Cycle Club. I was the easily the weakest cyclist. It was so frustrating and motivating at the same time. I had a similar experience when Keshia convinced me to come on my first Lifetime Run Club trail run. I dreaded the thought of not being able to do something because of physical limitations. I started training. It started as an interest in being able to reach some goals as they related to sport, but have since far outreached those boundaries. Now I seek to improve every aspect of my life through fitness. To be able to perform my job better, to be surrounded by people who enjoy challenging themselves and to have a place to go to blow off a little steam. -Brad
