Every once in a while, the Lord will allow us to get a glimpse of heavens perspective of who we are and the value of what we do. Today was one of thoseonce in a while moments for me. I walked into the room and saw a patient I had last seen in 2012. It was at that appointment that she presented for her annual exam and a complaint of a newly found breast mass. As I performed the exam, I knew (as one can only know after doing a few hundred normal breast exams), that this mass had a suspicious feel to it. This young woman, a mother of small children, was frightened by the prospect of what her mass might be. At the close of the appointment, as I frequently do with His leading, I prayed with her. As I was praying, the verse that declares, Be still and know that I am God, (Ps. 46:10) came to mind, and I included it in my prayer. She shared with me today, very tearfully, that on the day of that appointment, THAT verse was a part of her morning devotional reading, and she felt that it was significant that I had included it in my prayer. She went on to tell me that over the past year+, as she had a mastectomy and chemo treatment, THAT verse became the one that came back to her again and again and sustained her through the ordeal. She said that she has shared her testimony on 8 occasions thus far, and said, You, and what you did for me that day, are a part of my testimony. And on more than one occasion, someone from the audience has come up to me and asked, Was the provider that prayed for you Susan Wells? She said, You are making a difference. You are impacting lives. As I sat there listening, trying to keep my composure, I felt so humbled, grateful, and honored to have been used by the Lord to minister to one of His daughters . . . to be His hands to touch, and His lips to speak a word that can sustain the weary. You see, ALL of us have been created for a purpose . . . something bigger than what or who we are . . . a GOD-sized assignment . . . an invitation to partner with the Creator . . . to bring heaven, and its resources into the earth as we pray . . . and this is something that just requires stepping out in faith-filled obedience (not knowing how it might turn out, but trusting the FAITHFUL ONE to watch over His Word to perform it) . . . believing that our steps are ordered by God . . . and a knowing that it IS possible to seamlessly blend ministry and the marketplace . . . by just being willing to do the works of Jesus . . . everywhere . . .every moment of . . . every . . . single . . . day . . .
