Every once in awhile I experience something that makes me get over myself. Not so long ago I was lecturing to a large audience. Seated in the front row was a young lady holding a smart phone. My talks are pretty high-energy as well as humorous. Everyone in the room was watching me and the photographs in the RHB Powerpoint, everyone except this lady. She had her head down and was texting throughout the talk. I must admit my nose got a little out of joint and my ego was bruised.. So I doubled up on the energy and started beaming more and more enthusiasm towards this girl. Nothing; she would glance at me occasionally but then continue to text. At the end of the talk, lots of folks came up to chat with me. The next thing I knew, this young lady was facing me. I really enjoyed your talk Mr Howlett!!! She gushed. I was about ready to zing her with a sarcastic comment when she continued, I took lots of notes throughout your talk, and even tweeted some of your RHb stuff to my followers. Gulp...
