Every once in awhile I like to share experiences on my mail route. Today near the end of my route, one of my dear elderly customers met me in her yard. I hadnt seen her most of the summer, so I knew she was ill. Today, she came out with her beautiful smile but no hair. She explained how her red toboggan was just too hot to wear. This might not sound like much to some of you, but, Ive been the girl with the bald head! I know the pain, the hurt, the sadness of this horrible disease. Ive had the stares, the not to sure looks, but most of all I had a wonderful support system with me through my battle. Liz Elizabeth Moore Scott, I dont know if you remember, but you gave me the cutest brimmed straw hat with flowers embroidered on it. I still have it, out of shape, but still a reminder of a harder time. For a woman, loosing your hair is one of the worst feelings in the world. Its a different comparison to the cancer. So, with this being said, I think it would be neat if the city or someone in our community would start a HAT RACK or a HATS FOR HOPE....just a little something to help a woman feel a little prettier during her fight. Shirley Scates McKee, years ago, you fought this battke with me. We talked of doing something....what do you say??
