Every president has a legacy...sometimes that legacy becomes the stuff of Myth. Sometimes it takes on a religious fervor. But Ronald Reagan had plenty of failures in his presidency, just like all the rest of our presidents. I do not believe that he would have been comfortable with all of the adoration and worship of his legacy by todays dysfunctional conservatives. I believe that he would not, Because of his practical conservatism and love for his country, condone the vitriolic and uncompromising unwillingness to act brought about by the most extreme elements in todays Republican party. He was,love him or hate him, a leader and a man of ACTION who was not afraid to ask corporate America and the most wealthy Americans to pay their taxes. Maybe not what I could consider a fair share of taxes, but still the Reagan administration raised taxes because it was good for the economy and therefore good for the people of this country.
