Im not sure what specifically fired Joel up this morning, but buried in his southern preacher rant is something that is very troublesome, because I can see the bend toward this illusion of safe food production where all fertilizer is clear and we shoot any birds above the orchard for fear theyll poop on an apple. No mixed plant-animal farms? Sounds natural. :-/ Get back in the dirt, everybody!: The regulations almost prohibit using compost for vegetable production and create a scorched-earth policy toward wildlife that meanders onto farms. The regulations love centralized Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) and doesnt want mixed plant-animal farms. Chemical fertilizers are easy to use; biologically active soil amendments practically impossible.
