Every single thing said in here is unfortunately, sadly wrong. This is the problem with talking about things you dont understand. First, evolution is observable, and has been observed, repeatedly. Fruit flies, viruses, dogs, the list goes on. The very fact that you need a new flu vaccine every year is directly because last years flu virus has evolved. Second, the concept of theory in science does not mean what he thinks it means. In everyday conversation, theory means simply, idea or supposition. In science, however, it means a system of testable ideas either supported or refuted by evidence or experimentation. The theory of evolution HAS been tested thousands of times, and has withstood most of them. When it has not, those aspects of it have been rewritten. Third, evolution has nothing to do with will. It would take faith to accept it, IF you had no actual understanding of science or how it works, like this gentleman seems to. You do not will evolution into being. Whatever is most likely to succeed does, and survives to pass those genes on. Those genes not likely to succeed do not get passed on. Thats pretty much all there is to it. Fourth, the second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of any isolated system almost never decreases. Key here are isolated systems, and almost never. Once again, the lack of scientific understanding stymies his though process, and leads to faulty conclusions. This describes radically different processes and systems, and are not strictly applicable in this way. Fifth, the tornado/Lamborghini analogy would be valid if evolution worked that way. It does not. Science dose not believe that. See the above note about lack of scientific understanding. Those who do not understand the process think its like rolling a million dice and having them all come up six. Yes, that would be hard to believe, but thats not what happens. What happens is like rolling them all, then putting aside all the ones that came up six, then re-rolling the rest, then putting aside those that then come of six, and repeating the process until you eventually get all sixes. See how that could work, and is much easier to understand and accept? Sixth, this is not a perfectly working earth. There are many systems that are sub-optimal, and are still being refined, still evolving. It is easy to see how this misconception comes about, since it seems like its perfect for humans, it seems perfectly working, but this is not the case. If it were, humans would not have to evolve things like sickle cell disease to combat malaria, and a thousand other similar adaptations. Seventh, given that the same forces are at work throughout the universe, and given that most planets do not have atmospheres conducive to our life, this clearly implies accidental evolution. (Accidental is in quotes, simply because thats the word he used, not because it is accurately applicable.) If it were intelligently designed, one would expect to find the process (and result) much simpler and therefore more widespread. Eighth, feeling something and deciding that the something is god is not how knowledge works. I dont know, therefore god, is inherently flawed. I get that it might feel odd and remove your personal expectation of specialness to think that youre here by accident, but that is not a valid reason to discount anything. Ninth, that universe = one word thing is beyond laughable, though randomly pulling shit put of your ass and then claiming it as fact is par for the theist course. Tenth, the bible is true and if you want proof, read the bible is not acceptable as knowledge. Belief is not knowledge. Eleventh, we let science in schools, because school is about knowledge, not belief. Feel free to teach your belief in church. It rightly belongs there. But belief does not belong in a classroom. Belief is not knowledge. (On a personal note, this is one of my biggest problems with belief: it is too easy to misinterpret as knowledge.) Finally, it is odd that a person who self-identifies as a believer, is trying to say that believing in something else is wrong.
