Every single time I hear Jennifer Eberhardt present her research on race, stereotypes, and the criminal (in)justice system, I run over and tell her, Everyone should know about your work! Its rare that such hard-hitting research on racism in America gets this kind of recognition--a MacArthur genius grant! Importantly, this recognition comes during Americas Ferguson moment--a moment when many are beginning to fully recognize the scope of police violence against African Americans (killing hundreds of citizens per year) and the accompanying civic death via mass incarceration as discussed by Angela Davis, Michelle Alexander, and many others. Jennifer Eberhardts work is so critical to this discussion, to this moment. So happy for her and for Stanford University - The Program In African & African American Studies and Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity! We salute you, Jennifer!
