Every so often, I get messages like this, and I keep them somewhere safe and savor them. I never share them (that I remember...but I do a lot of things I never remember), for a variety of reasons but mainly because I feel like it comes across as inviting ego-stroking, and, lets face it: I dont need your help for that. But this was too sweet not to share: Hey dear Juli--I think you could make a lot of money as a writer. You are funnier and far more literate than the vast majority of successful writers. Im not talking novels, necessarily, but essays and commentary. I would pay for your jewels. Your take on the world always brightens my day. You need to get someone like Margaret Cho to get you and then promote you. I hate that you are struggling to get good work. You are just too damned talented to be in that situation. This really brightened my day, and it has inspired me! So, listen up: your invoices are in the mail. Moochers.
