Every so often, I like my adrenaline. This is my favorite video of a aerial combat assault (airmobile infantry). Of course it is the 1st Cavalry Division. In all my life, I have never felt the adrenaline that I felt while participating in aerial combat assaults in Nam. The intense fear was tempered by the surreal majesty of flying in the sky with your legs hanging off the sides as you enter an LZ in the jungle. In my case, we had 2 Cobras who would annihilate the LZ just before we landed. I had just turned 20 years old. As a Company and Battalion RTO, I was the shadow of the Company Commander, which is why we were always on the 1st gaggle in. Im grateful to be alive today and will never forget those whom I served with who made the ultimate sacrifice. I am always saddened when I think of the tomorrows they never had.
