Every time I look at the Thai fighters do their kicks, in training - TopicsExpress

Every time I look at the Thai fighters do their kicks, in training and in competition, I cant help but notice that they dont guard their heads during the motion. Yet in basics, were always told to guard it to avoid a counter head kick. Why is this? Personally, I feel that keeping the rear hand high while throwing a roundhouse is pretty awkward; keeping both arms lower and letting them swing in the direction opposite to the kick feels more natural and generates more momentum in the hips.So whats the correct hand motion during a kick?
