Every time i see Bangla movies from the 70s and early 80s, I become saddened as to why we have regressed instead of progressed. We used to make such good movies before, why not anymore? Here are my reasons: 1. Why cant we write a decent script? A good movie, actually any movie, starts from a script. Why do we have the worlds most horrible script writers? 99% of all bangla movies out have good acting, decent music, great camerawork and cinematography, but HORRIBLE stories. And by horrible I mean same-story-same-plot-0 intelligence-horrible. We have good authors, we have good poets, we have great playwrights. Why cant we write a single, decent movie script? 2. The audience is a big part of the problem. We have stopped caring about our movie industry. We have stopped asking our directors, producers, theatre owners etc to give us good movies. Instead, we applaud and reward horrible movies. For example, as much as I hate Ononto Jalil, I hate more people who go to see his shit just to make fun, paying good money.This man, who has pig shit for brains, has negative movie talent, and makes the worst movies in the history of moviedom, is taking resources away from the actual talented movie directors and producers, and YOU are helping him do this. Stop it. 3. Lets start thinking of the movie industry as a sustainable business and not only entertainment. This means everyone from the spot boy to the theatre owners should think of themselves as entrepreneurs part of a long term industry, as opposed to a platform that exists only to make a quick buck by mixing movie producing with adom bepari/dalal giri, or get some fame so that people ask for your autograph in boshundora city. Being obsessed with short term profits is what got us into this mess in the first place. Unless we see this industry as a long term business, nothing will change. Bangladeshis are some of the most culture oriented, artistic people I know of. Why cant our movie industry reflect that?
