Every time you try to get ahead in your workplace, your employer finds ways to undercut you while still trying to get more out of you. For those of you currently in “exempt” position--exempt from overtime--the impending action could benefit you greatly. The opposition’s argument that paying overtime to those currently “exempt” will result in fewer people in those position has never been borne out. Businesses need these people and would rather use them without proper compensation for the additional hours they put it than pay them fairly. This move is long overdue, even before it exacerbated by the previous Administration.
