Every tour guide knows him. The elderly gentleman travelling alone that never lets you walk by without stopping you to tell you something. Or ask you something. And somehow, the more in a rush you are to do 50 things, the slower he seems to talk. And he cant do any of the passport formalities without your help. And he always arrives for every lecture 10 minutes late and makes a huge fuss sitting down. And then, when you are at your most irritated and frustrated he suddenly pipes up and says: my wife and I were married 57 years. She died last year and I miss her. She always wanted to come to Africa, so now I am here on her behalf, but I really miss her. And all of a sudden the irritation disappears and you feel humbled to the tips of your toes.
