Every year, I have the privilege of turning a year older at the same time the world turns a year older. There is a neatness and an orderliness to this that appeals to me. It also sharpens my perspective, as it seems to give both the birthday and the New Year an increased level of seriousness. They are magnified, one by the other. Some years this intensity is easier to take in stride than others and I slip into the new year, mine and the worlds, with ease and a light heart. This is not one of those years. Lets just say that getting older is... interesting. :) Change is hard. But life is good! As I look back upon the past year (and all the ones that came before) and forward to the next, I feel grateful to all of you for enriching my life in a way that only you could. I am better for it. Even if we havent been in touch in a long time, even if I rarely tell you, know that you are being thought of tonight. I wish you all a very Happy New Year. May it be filled with peace, love, health and happiness!
