Every year about this time something happens to Poppy. This Christmas she has become incontinent again so its off to the vets armed with a water sample to check for infection. I started her on Dorwest Mixed Vegetable tablets alongside the Garlic and Fenugreek she normally takes but it can take a few weeks to get into her system so better to be safe than sorry and get her looked at. Ive been asked a few times how I collect a water sample so thought Id take some photos to show you I use a tin foil baking tray and squash down one end of it so it looks a bit like a scoop. I take that and a jam jar that I have thoroughly cleaned and sterilised out on the walk. As soon as I see her squat for a wee I slide the foil tray under and collect the urine. I then pour it straight into the jam jar. Its obviously not a completely sterile sample but its ok for them to test in surgery It can be difficult to collect a sample on your own so Matt always walks the girls and I follow behind armed with my tray and jar. The poor neighbours must think Ive lost marbles when they see me wandering home with a jar full of wee ;-)
