Every year since being elected I’ve joined Enderby Road - TopicsExpress

Every year since being elected I’ve joined Enderby Road Infants’ School for their last assembly of the year. So once there I feel Christmas is not far away! But I was rather overshadowed by the other visitor – Father Christmas! It was a busy week though as parliament frantically raced towards the recess. I contributed to an important vote on Millie’s Law to support campaigners who asking for it to be carefully considered having all staff in nursery settings first aid trained. And there were key votes on firefighters’ pensions and the Bedroom Tax. Labour voted to support the firefighters properly and to scrap the Bedroom Tax. Unfortunately – despite LibDem posturing - they voted against us and with the Conservatives on both issues. So we lost both votes. At least people can judge us all by our actions!!! We stand up for people and argue their case. Who says politicains are all the same? I asked the Energy Secretary what he’s going to do about fuel poverty and when he’s going to bring forward a proper energy policy to support manufacturing industry. No proper answer! And I pointed out to the Local Government Minister the likely negative effect of the further savage cuts to local government financing on local services. They seem to not only not care but also be in denial about the impact of what they are doing. Finally, after a busy surgery, I visited Bradbury Security where I was really impressed by the excellent work being done. They are producing great products to a very high specification with dedicated management and workforce. As we race towards Christmas I need to now find time for some Christmas shopping or I’ll be in real trouble!! Best wishes to everyone for the Christmas period and Happy New Year!
