Every year, the Star Ledger has a performing arts scholarship competition for students who attend school in Newark. First prize is $40,000 and there are three second prizes of $20,000 each. Last year, one of my multi-percussionists won the $40k. This year, Im proud to announce that three of my kids competed (two on marimba and one on vibes). My two marimba players have advanced to the finals, along with 4 other kids (a guitarist and three drama students).
