Every year we see this, from San Luis Pass, Texas City Dike, to Rollover Pass. I cant begin to count all the drownings I know of. Be careful everyone and wear your life jacket. Ive had 3 near drownings myself. Im fortunate to still be here. I wade fish often and always will, respect the water. TEXAS CITY, TX (KTRK) -- A man who witnesses say was fishing Monday morning near the Texas City Dike disappeared and was later found dead in the water. Witnesses say Curtis Ivory Ward, Jr., of Houston was wade fishing on Mosquito Island when he walked several yards out into the water. They say he then disappeared. A couple hours after Ward was reported missing, an off-duty Galveston County Beach Patrol deputy on a watercraft found a man believed to be Ward dead, floating in the water. Witnesses say that two others may have been with Ward, but a search of the area found no one else. Police believe he was the sole victim and that no one else was missing.
