Everybody knows that I do dog rescue. I have been lucky enough to find a kind hearted man who enjoys them as well & tolerates the revolving door at our home for various fosters. About a month ago, we took in a grumpy old terrier mix who had been dumped at a kill shelter at 13.5 years old after her dad died & her mom did not want her. She did not want much to do with us, but we provided for her while we had her & she passed away peacefully during a nap in the sun this weekend in our yard. While we can not be a retirement home for all of the discarded elderly pets, we did this for her because we could even though she never wanted to snuggle or play. It is a nice feeling to do something just because you can & have no expectation of getting something in return. I know lots of wonderful people in rescue who struggle with the defeat that is rescue on a daily basis. I hope you stop to remember the lives you touch & find some comfort in the unconditional love you give & receive. You are amazing!
