Everybody should live right but when you have CHILDREN, there should be even more of an incentive to walk softly before the Lord. God is not mocked. What we sow is what we reap. There are generations on the earth right now who are eating corrupt fruit from their parents harvests. Be careful how you treat people. Be careful how you handle matters that fall into your lap because you never know how things can come back around. My own children often ask me why I allow a certain thing or why I dont deal with certain things and I tell them because after my departure, they have to live. They have to live with the things I have done and the things I have said. And if I have a brazen personality, strutting like a peacock and hurting people, I shouldnt be surprised when God allows the harvest of my actions to fall upon my family lines. So I say, watch yourselves. God is not mocked. I can tell you that God visits the iniquities of the fathers upon the children. Yes, it is OT but it still is SCRIPTURE. Thank God for Jesus and thank God for the blood covenant but not everyone is privileged with that information so they suffer. Patterns of divorce, incest, poverty, failure, and etc. are taking place right now as a result of the sins of the Father. Plead the Blood over your family line and walk upright as much as lieth in you. Be an Abraham to your family and leave blessings, not curses. Treat people right or leave them alone.
