Everyday for the past several weeks FB has asked me to install the messenger app and I click no thanks. Today, I learned it was mandatory. I went ahead and installed it because the message was about work and I needed to read it right away, and I wasnt near a computer. However, it really annoyed me, because I have never liked being forced to do something against my will. I am entirely too independent and free spirited for that. The new app bugged me immediately. The stupid noise it made every time you got a message (like a cash register from the 1950s)...the video and camera you could accidentally click on...the person youre talking to in a pop-up bubble not going away until you drag and drop it, etc. I was considering uninstalling it just for that stuff alone, but after reading this, that clinched it. The messenger app is now uninstalled from my phone, and I dont appreciate FB for acting like a controlling, over-the-top mother who gives you no say whatsoever and invades your privacy. I still have the FB app but I wont (cant) message from my phone anymore. So please e-mail or text instead, but only unless its really important. If you dont have my phone number or e-mail address, that probably means you dont know me well enough to be casually chatting via private message anyway. Im actually not a fan of chatting and have my chat box turned off for a reason. Unless its business related, or a pressing personal matter, Id rather you comment publicly. Its not that I dont love you guys, its that I get a lot of traffic in my inbox, and I feel rude if I dont reply to each message, so I always try my best to respond, at least with a like symbol or smiley face, and that can be really time consuming. I have actually been thinking about disabling my message box altogether, but that wouldnt be fair to those who really do need to reach me. Anyway, please read this article. If everyone refused to submit to authority and not install the app, maybe the FB rulers would take a chill pill about it. A fascist leader can only be a fascist leader, if everyone complies. I may or may not still be talking about FB right now. Going back to being my normal positive and cheery self in 3, 2, 1.... Okay, vent over. Carry on :) thebull.cbslocal/2014/08/07/facebook-crosses-the-line-with-new-facebook-messenger-app/
