Everyone, As I note in my command philosophy, going to sea is - TopicsExpress

Everyone, As I note in my command philosophy, going to sea is dangerous. At times, the danger lies within the sea, and at times it lies above the sea. Whether the Mohawk crew sails in the Cutter Mohawk, Thetis, or Tampa ... it makes no difference what name is painted on the stern. What matters is the character of the men and women that bring these steel hulled cutters to life and action. On this Memorial Day, I thank this awesome crew I sail with for their service and sacrifice to this great Service and grateful Nation. And so on this special day, many thanks go out to the men and women that have served with pride and distinction, at home and abroad, throughout our countrys history. The wars and conflicts of the past and the present have all been waged with the blood, sweat, and tears of men and women that rightfully placed country before self. Like most of you, today I have paused to think about why this holiday matters. It matters to me because a number of my relatives have served and died in the wars of our past. It also matters to me because I have seen firsthand a shipmate die before my very eyes while performing his duty out at sea. Seaman Greg Lafond will always be memorialized in my thoughts. Going to sea is dangerous. But, not going to sea is far more dangerous. My best to you all, Adam Morrison
