Everyone I have been talk to lately has mentioned the sharp rise in deer numbers across the country. In 5 years time they will be massive and something will be needed to be done. This is a direct result of 1080 and the destruction of the wild venison trade and hunters not trusting the meat from deer in 1080 areas. Any cost of bringing the numbers down must be attributed to 1080 which will at least double its costs. Trapping will be by far cheaper and getting a better result. The money generated from employment and export revenue will be more than enough to control rat and stoat numbers. To those why promoter the use of 1080 I say CHECKMATE! Its all done, bar the shouting but where do we all meet up for the party? Please post your observations of deer, pig and goat populations in your area.
