Everyone, The crew has had to endure some rough sea states at times over the past couple days with seas and swells periodically being 8 to 10 feet. Nonetheless, the crew continues to stand the watch and work hard on training and maintenance requirements. Its been a while, so I need to play catch up on a number of great achievements: (1) Underway Officer of the Deck: Ensign Cook; Ensign Giovanni; and BMC Delapaz (2) Underway and Inport Engineer of the Watch: Ensign Sowers and MK1 Toro (3) Boarding Team Member: MK3 Guy (4) Quartermaster of the Watch: BM3 Young (5) Requirements testing for the next higher rank: OS2 Lynk and Mk2 Parsons Four folks have now completed the running challenge requirements: CO; OS2 Lynk; LTjg Swiecanski; and EMC Falconer. Since our last port call, we have added some more shipmates to our ranks. We are pleased to have on board: LCDR Austin; LT Gross; ENS Mewes; AET1 Felsing; AET2 Leghorn; AET2 Russell; and AMT2 Clark. ENS Mewes joins our crew on her own cutter, and the other shipmates are attached to the Helicopter Interdiction Squadron based out of Jacksonville, FL. The month of May has a lot of personal, crew, and professional milestones to celebrate: May 6th and May 8th: Lots of folks taking the Service Wide Exam to compete for advancement to the next higher rank May 9th: Military Spouse Appreciation Day May 10th: 110th Anniversary of the commissioning of the first Revenue Cutter Mohawk May 11th: Mothers Day May 17th: Cutter Mohawk comes off the yard lift and gets refloated in the water May 26th: Memorial Day More updates to follow.
