Everyone!!!! We have an AWESOME NEWS!!! Our little shuggy, ATTICUS, is back with us safely!!! Atticus was picked up by Animal Control early November last year, when Animal Control received the numerous complain ( NOT for Atticus, but about his previous owner) from concerned neighbors. Atticus and a couple of other small dogs that were belong to the same person, have been roaming around the area near by busy highway. Atticus was pretty under socialized when he first came, but he slowly opened up to us. A week later, we could tell he trusted us 120%. We even took him to his first adoption event( pic 2-4) About 2 weeks later, his original owner called us and told our Director that HOW MUCH she loved Atticus, and wanted him back to her. She didnt have money that she owed us regarding releasing Atticus. The Director felt bad for her, and released him for NO charge WITH promise that she WOULD take care of him properly. Few days later, we simply found out that all this person made was empty promise. We got a report from Animal Control that the person MOVED OUT and left ALL the small dogs behind including Atticus... Boy, were we FURIOUS!!! We worried to death about those dogs safety, especially our Atti!! The area was far from safe, and the weather were getting harsh day by day. We went to the location everyday after closing our little shelter, hoping we could get Atticus and his siblings, but couldnt locate him or any others. Some kind neighbors also offered to set up the trap in their yard,but no luck. We posted on our FB for more help and so many folks concerned about Atti, but we just couldnt get him :( THEN....guess the person felt heat from the public, and they came back and took Atticus with them....AGAIN, insisted Animal Control that they LOVED Atticus....We were NOT happy at all, but it was too late...all we could do was praying for him :( By the way, At the same time. they dumped ALL the others on us including little mama dog and puppies: which were in bad shape, and later cost us hundreds dollars to save: now all were taken over by both Dorothy OConnor Pet Adoption Center & Austin Humane Society!!! All of them found GREAT forever homes thru them :) Unfortunately....these people fooled all of us AGAIN.... They let loose Atticus AGAIN at their new location( in the town of Gonzales) and Atti started to live on the street.... Animal Control tried his hardest to catch him, but it didnt go easily. Some kind neighbors tried to, but he growled at them....all attempt had been failed,until...YESTERDAY! We got a report that Atticus was hanging around 1616 Hamilton St. recently. Tracy( pic), one of SUPER GDA staff, immediately went to the location even though she was supporsed enjoying her day off. She took a cheeseburger with her to get his attention. As soon as she located him, she called his name Atti!!! A true miracle happened! HE REMEMBERED US!!! Even though we spent time with him less than 10 days last November, AND it has been almost 2 full month passed since we see each other....HE STILL REMEMBER US!!! (( crying)) He ran directly up to Tracys lap!!! He didnt need a Cheeseburger. He must missed us!!! He was covered by fleas( AGAIN), but hes a happy boy!!! WE GOT HIM!!! Next thing we did was made report to our Animal Control. He, too, was VERY happy that we got him, AND he assured us the following! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, the original owner can NOT get him back ANY MORE!!! No more excuse, and if she EVER shows up at our little pound, we can call PD! This person will be charged as Animal Cruelty charge! Period!!! Go, Larry, the Animal Control ( lol!) Atticus is back safe now AND this time, hes going to find a TRUE forever home!
