Born on 18/05/1990 Bongani Buckland better known as Dj Bongas is well known within the Australian music scene as a prominent and empowering electronic music artist who through his enthusiastic character and Knowledge of various production techniques is taking on any genre to produce in his stride with the upmost professionalism while also adding his own special well sought after twist to the sound. In Bongas early days his musical creativity was sparked by his father who was a professional percussionist for over 40 years playing in many international recognised bands as well as session work. Being brought up around music and hearing the rhythm of the various percussion instruments always intrigued Bongas which sparked interest to learn and listen to different time signatures and rhythms. Pursuing this urge to create music Bongas started at a young age on the drums and general percussive instruments expanding his knowledge and furthering his eagerness to create music. Once turned 18 years of age Bongas attained a heavy interest in hip hop music through his friends and social circle . Once visiting different nightclubs this gave Bongas an exhilaration to speak to different producers in the industry that were playing the clubs which progressed to him having a more electronic music enthusiasm and learning how to dj by watching the electronic music artists of the night. after one year visiting various clubs and making new friends who were current Djs in the industry who held residencies at clubs led to Bongas playing his debut gig at Korova Milkbar in Melbourne CBD to which now he holds a popular weekly residency and helps bring up new Djs by teaching them different skills and musical tuition. While being a resident at Korova it has paved a way to Bongas playing all over Australia and gaining more residencies along the way while also earning followers who are always committed and keen to hear his new music and mixes. Bongas is now primarily a minimal techno artist however can play any genre of music for any booking with ease and comfort. Shortly after headlining Cooinda Music Festival, Bongas is currently working on various music collaborations with international rappers and Producers especially in the UK music scene while also getting his music featured at Colorado festival. Through this Bongas is the artist to follow this year as big things are coming his way.
