Everyone has the right to return to his or her own country. Take the case of Mali: A sizable minority among the more than 160,000 Malian refugees want to go home, even though UNHCR and many outside observers deem that it is not yet safe. Despite the different assessments of risk, UNHCR supports the independent decision-making of refugees and will help their return to northern Mali. 2,800 of the 14,000 refugees in Alba camp have now gone home.
