Everyone is right that this is a time when we need to support the family who lost their children in a fire, but why werent we doing that before? We let our single mothers live in poverty and nobody bats an eye until something terrible happens. That trailer wasnt a double - wide suitable to raise a family, it was a travel trailer, the kind rich people haul behind their trucks in the summer. Thats beyond unacceptable. We live in a greedy society that refuses to be proactive at the expense of those who already have enough, oblivious to the fact that we are social animals and nobody is independent. We either help the vulnerable before or clean up the devastation after.
