Everyone knows Im against a minimum wage. People should be able to - TopicsExpress

Everyone knows Im against a minimum wage. People should be able to accept a wage theyre willing to take, and an employer should be able to offer any wage he wants. If a job-seeker and an employer settle on a wage, it should be allowed, whatever that wage ends up to be. When I was growing up, pretty much the only people who worked fast food were high school kids, college kids, and dropouts. There were no mature workers raising families working fast food then. People sought those jobs out only to get work experience, and knew they would get paid peanuts. But we were ok with that. My first job was the summer after 9th grade at Jack in the Box in Kapahulu. I was paid minimum wage of either $3.35 or $3.85/hr. I learned a ton working there, even though I worked there only about a month. I learned, working and earning money was awesome, but working at Jack in the Box sucked rocks, and quickly figured out exactly what I DIDNT want to do with my life. Would they have offered me the job if they were forced to pay a higher minimum, or rather, a living wage?
