Everyone needs a past , a history to reference. The power of history is such that we can plot a course to the future by knowing what has happened. DJ’s similarly need to know their roots. It matters not that your preferred genre for example happened over 30 years ago in a foreign country for example. You know the how and the why , the future becomes so much more clearer. Your ability to see a trend or common thread in your preferred genre is vital. You need to be able to tell wether this is bandwagoning or true future innovation. The past will assist with telling the two apart. Bandwagons dont last and like avalanches can bury the participants under great amount of negative sentiment. I’m an underground DJ but these things apply to mainstream as well. Always digging and always looking to what has happened before so i can write a better one for myself tomorrow. #TipForTheDay
