Everyone of any consequence in young Davids life had written him - TopicsExpress

Everyone of any consequence in young Davids life had written him off... except God Himself. Davids father paid him little regard, and his older brothers were contemptuous. When the warrior Goliath first set eyes on David, he disdained him. He was just a shepherd boy. Jesses kid. The dreamer who was always writing poetry and praise songs. Even godly Samuel got carried away with how handsome and kingly Davids older brothers appeared. Finally, God had to remind His servant: The Lord does not see as man sees;... the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). If anything, our culture today is even more focused on the externals. We make quick judgments about others based on our initial impressions. Mentally, we pigeonhole people, deciding (with no real evidence) what their capabilities or potential might be. But we have no idea how God seems them or what His plans are concerning them. We have no real concept of how God can sovereignty choose to work through a man, woman, or child of His choosing-to kill a giant, lead a kingdom, or write songs that people will still be singing 3,000 years later. -Dr. David Jeremiah #JeremiahStudyBible #1Samuel #WhatItMeansForYou
