Everyone says love hurts. That isn’t true. Love does not hurt. - TopicsExpress

Everyone says love hurts. That isn’t true. Love does not hurt. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Having to say goodbye hurts. Being lied to hurts. Everyone (myself included) gets these things confused with love. Love doesn’t hurt – these things do. So this week, I had to say goodbye to someone I would have never, rejected, hurt, envied or lied to (someone I truly loved but didn’t love me back). That hurt. Then I realized, love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Whether you believe in God or not, we all know this Bible passage speaks the truth about love. In relationships if both parties don’t care for each other in this way, it isn’t, nor will it ever be a loving relationship. This I have found is true not only in the love interests I have had across time, but it also spills over into friendships and all relationships even including those within our families. Took me way too long to realize this. God has been waiting on me for a long time to get this lesson. I’m sorry God it took me too long! I’m gonna try harder to truly love the people God has blessed my life with regardless of their behavior. Even if I have to do that from a distance (sometimes a really far distance, lol).
