Everyone that knows me knows that my pets are like children to me. I have been crying my eyes out and so worried this evening. I know many of you have lots of experience with animals, so I am reaching out for any advice that I can get. Our very sweet and loving dog Mafia has started showing signs of aggression the past couple months; very limited and random episodes of biting, but tonight she took quite a big chunk out of my thumb and it was completely out of the blue and so very unlike her. Her back is healed, she is not in any pain that we know of, and we have no idea what could cause this. She was snuggled up with me watching the Chiefs game (maybe she is ticked off that they are losing-ha!) and was nudging my hand to keep patting her head. I pet her, then she just snapped and attacked my hand very viciously. She would not let go and blood was everywhere. She immediately ran to her kennel and knew that she had done something wrong. She does have a little bit of haziness in one of her eyes, and there may be a possibility of a slight vision loss which could cause fear-based biting I suppose, but the sudden worsening of aggression has me so worried and obviously devastated. I definitely cannot have her around any children, and now I am afraid to be too close to her after what happened. She is my baby, sleeps with us and is attached to me or Adam constantly. Needless to say, she is quite spoiled and we love her to pieces. My heart is broken for her, as I am at a loss. I plan to take her to the vet Tuesday after work, but if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. I get teased for becoming so attached to my pets, so there may be some of you out there that think Im being a crazy big baby tonight lol, but I really do appreciate any advice or ideas that you may have. Thank you!
