Everything is built around air to fuel ratio. between 14 to 1 & 15 to 1 / Everything else is dealing with compression & preventing detonation, backfiring using reeds & split vacuum lines sometimes. proper 2 stroke oil to fuel ratios apply, along with the freshness of the gas & quality of the 2 stroke oil. you need to buy your oils from a moped/cycle shop & not at a gas station. or Napa. if you are dealing with maintaining a moped properly. gas only lasts for 30 days, then it gets stale like beer will. if it gets dark in color, orange, it incorporated condensation & broke down the petroleums viscosity and has water & probably sludge collected at the bottom of the tank inside the petcock sleeve and also the fuel filter. the bowl of the carburetor must be removed & sprayed out with carb cleaner, the air filter element is key to a smooth operating cycle, this not only sets the air to fuel ratio, it must get rinsed with solvent/ mild degreaser like simple green, every 1200 miles & is something that often is not done by the owner. gear oil, every 2400 at least, 01.0 to 01.1 liters go in the gear box, synthetic gear oil 90 is good. do not use synthetic oil in a brand new engine, drain out the oil that the bike comes with, then drain that all out after the first 300 miles, metal shavings from the engines production will be in this drained out oil & you will see shavings if you look in it. these need to get out of your gear box right away. next you change it out after 1000 miles, then the 2400 mile applies after changing the oil out 4 times. & cleaning the air box element with solvent. without that the foam drys & breaks up, going into the engine & port, thus slowing the bike 20% or more. spark plugs every 2400 miles at least. spray your bike down wit simple green, & the plastic/ rubber protect-ant every month. make sure your bike is grounded. wiring of the bike & proper voltage could be another issue with a dead bike. batteries only last 18 to 30 months tops & must be replaced. disconnecting the battery & draining out all gas for storing a cycle more then 30 days is a must. to fix a bike after gas & battery left in a bike is costly, easy to fix but you need to take everything apart & replace shit, fuel filters, hoses, petcocks, batteries, fuel pumps, ect...
