Everytime i come across my fellow youth and ask them whether they have tried to take advantage of YAGPO-Youth Access to Government Procurement Opportunities and their answer is a resounding No. Apart from a few close friends who have the ambition to try their feet in entrepreneurship, most are pessimistic about such endeavours. Most of the youthful graduates prefer to be employed in well established institutions or companies. My opinion is while that may be important in terms of experience acquisition and capital to start up a business, for how long will you work there. The established company be it Barclays, Coca Cola, Britam, Hamilton, Harrison and Matthews, government institution will make use of your time, energy, talent and professional skills to net billions and thereafter use a small percentage of that to pay you. My fellow youth it is time we try our feet in new start ups. What happened to our geniuses. In primary, high school and the university i came across vibrant, energitic, brilliant and talented people. But does all this talent go? It is sucked by corporates and by time you know it you are too old to start up something. I challenge us wherever we are to plan our exit strategy by slowly and gradually building a brand of your own. I would want to take this path.
