Ex Service Personnel Mentoring in Schools Programme Main Details Lancashire County Council has made a £3 million commitment over 5 years to establish a mentoring programme in Schools. This will: provide mentoring opportunities to identified young people in secondary education Yr 9, 10 and 11 to increase their potential and aspirations in school ; recruit, train and support members from the ex-service community in Lancashire to mentor young people and gain the skills needed to progress after the programme to find work outside of the forces; and provide a valuable staffing resource for Lancashire schools Lancashire County Council are looking to recruit Ex Service Personnel (Armed Forces), who are residents of Lancashire to become part of Lancashire County Councils Mentoring in Schools programme for secondary schools in Lancashire. The focus of the Mentor programme is to support young people to improve their performance, behaviour and attendance and develop skills which will create more opportunities. The Mentors recruited will undertake a training programme in parallel to employment with Lancashire County Council and One Connect Limited. The employment contract is a temporary term time contract for approximately 11 months. Successful applicants will undertake the role of mentor to work with young people within secondary schools on a one to one basis, inspiring, motivating and supporting them to make the best of their education and maximise their potential.
